Quantum Training Leads Discussion On New Inspection Regime
A team from Quantum Training hosted an event last month to help leaders in the care sector navigate the latest regulatory requirements. The specialist training provider is part of The Quantum Pharmaceutical Group and held the event so that care home managers could meet industry specialists and discuss the changes to how medicines are managed in care homes.
A new rating system for care homes from the industry regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) was introduced on 1st October this year. The system will grade homes as either outstanding, good, requiring improvement or inadequate – much the same way that Ofsted judges schools.
The expert panel included pharmacist Sue Lee, member of the NICE Guidelines Development Group for the recently published Guidance on Managing Medicines in Care Homes and Jane Orr-Campbell, chief consultant and managing director of the Care Quality Company and member of the Quality Standards Advisory Committee for NICE. The speakers helped delegates understand how the changes would affect their businesses and they also shared their tips on what inspectors would be looking for.
Between the speaker-led sessions, the room was buzzing with the sound of guests sharing their experiences and discussing best practice.
