Quantum Pharmaceutical is celebrating the despatch of its two millionth order of bespoke medicines or ‘specials’ from its North East manufacturing base. This milestone marks another successful year for the firm and follows the recent announcement that its parent company, Quantum Pharma Plc, floated on the AIM stock market. To support its rapid growth, Quantum Pharma has increased its North East workforce by 8 per cent. The company now employs 246 people at its County Durham headquarters.
This latest success builds on the company’s £4 million investment in the expansion of its North East facility including the opening of a state-of-the-art aseptic compounding suite in 2013.
“We are delighted with the performance of our unlicensed medicines service,” comments Brian Fisher, Group Commercial Director of Quantum Pharma Plc, said: “Given that each special manufactured under our roof can undergo as many as 150 individual quality checks, completing our 2 millionth order is an enormous achievement and a credit to our staff’s dedication. We work hard to offer the fastest specials service in the industry; pharmacies and dispensing doctors can order from us in the evening and receive bespoke medication manufactured in our own premises the next morning.”
